The psychosocial management manual for professionals and local police forces throughout Spain is presented in Calvià

Calvià hosted this Wednesday the Citizen Security and Civil Protection Commission of the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces) of which the mayor of the municipality, Juan Antonio Amengual, is vice president. The working group has also visited the facilities of the Local Police headquarters in Son Bugadelles and the gallery where the shooting instructors of the different Local Police Forces are trained in a course organised by the EBAP (Balearic School of Public Administration).
One of the highlights of the Commission meeting was the approval of the Good Practices in Police Health and Wellbeing manual prepared by UNIJEPOL (National Union of Local Police Chiefs and Directors), ASEPEYO (Mutual Collaborator with Social Security) and the FEMP. The manual aims to raise awareness amongst those responsible, train managers and sensitise workers to promote psychosocial management.
Amengual has pointed out the value of this type of resource to "work on suicide prevention and on how to deal with the stress that agents face on a daily basis. We are going to give maximum dissemination to this manual." For his part, Rafa García, Mayor of Burjassot and President of the Commission, has pointed out the importance of "visiting other municipalities, especially in this line of collaboration between all those who make up the FEMP on such a sensitive issue as the mental health of Local Police"
The manual is presented as a practical tool to improve the working conditions and health of agents in the face of the demands and dangers of police work and the high risks, both physically and psychologically, that the activity entails. In this framework, the document provides a comprehensive strategic framework, developed from rigorous research, and has the contributions of experts in occupational health and work safety.
Mayors and councillors and representatives of various municipalities in the country, as well as representatives of ASEPEYO, Local and National Police forces, have participated in the meeting both in person and by videoconference.
